Privacy Policy

What this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. Written to be read rather than to be survived.

Who is responsible

Museums.art is the data controller for this website and decides why and how any personal data described here is processed.

What this site collects

This website is a set of static files. It has no accounts, no login and no comment form, and it runs no analytics of its own. It does not profile you and it does not build an advertising audience from your visit.

One thing is stored on your device: your cookie preferences, kept in your browser's local storage under the key `museums.consent`. It never leaves your browser, is not readable by anyone else, and exists only so the banner does not ask you the same question on every page. You can clear it from your browser at any time.

Requests made to other companies

Every asset of this site is served from this domain. The typefaces and the pictures are self-hosted rather than fetched from another company, so the site's own pages, pictures and type come from nowhere else. The exceptions are listed here.

The outbound links lead to the websites and ticket offices of the places listed here. Those are ordinary links: nothing loads until you click one, and what happens after that is governed by the privacy notice of the site you chose.

Some links to ticket sellers are affiliate links. The address of such a link carries a code that tells the seller the visit came from this site, so that the site can be paid a commission if you book. The code identifies this site, not you, and this site sends nothing about you.

On the page of a place, the week's weather forecast is fetched by your browser from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (api.met.no), which publishes it for anyone to use. That request carries your IP address, as every request on the web does. It sets no cookie and sends nothing else about you.

GetYourGuide, with your permission

For tickets this site links to GetYourGuide Deutschland GmbH, of Berlin. If, and only if, you allow the marketing category in the cookie bar or press the button that asks for it on a ticket, your browser loads GetYourGuide's script and, on pages that sell a ticket, its booking box.

The script counts visits and bookings that come from this site, so that the site can be paid a commission. The booking box shows GetYourGuide's price and dates. Both come from GetYourGuide's servers, so GetYourGuide receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, which it handles under its own privacy policy. This site does not receive your name, your payment details or anything else you give GetYourGuide.

You can withdraw at any time from the cookie preferences link in the footer. Nothing else in the analytics or marketing categories is installed, and anything added later will be named here first.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what happened before.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

Changes

If this notice changes materially the date below is updated and, where the change affects consent, the site asks again.
