Lapérouse
Lapérouse has been on its quay since 1766. Its private rooms, each big enough for two or for six, were the most discreet in Paris, and the mirrors still carry the proof.

What Lapérouse is known for
The private salons
Three floors of small panelled rooms with painted ceilings, each closed by its own door. Senators, writers and their guests dined here unseen for a century.
The scratched mirrors
The mirrors in the salons are covered in fine scratches and initials. The story is that women tested the diamonds they were given by cutting the glass with them.
The front
A dark blue shopfront with gilded ironwork on the quay, facing the Seine and the Île de la Cité. The Sainte-Chapelle and Notre-Dame are a short walk over the bridges.

The most discreet tables in Paris
The house began in 1766 as a wine merchant's by the poultry market of the quay, where dealers needed somewhere private to settle their accounts. Around 1850 Jules Lapérouse took it over, gave it his name, and named two of its rooms after the ships of the explorer La Pérouse.
Victor Hugo, Zola, Maupassant, Proust and Cocteau all dined here. In 1933 it was among the first restaurants to be given three Michelin stars, which it kept until 1969. A new owner bought it in 2018 and restored the rooms.
