An American's hotel in the Golden Triangle
The George V opened in 1928, built for an American businessman and named for the British king, on the avenue that bears his name. It was the most modern hotel of its day, aimed at the transatlantic travellers arriving by liner.
During the Second World War its rooms were the setting for meetings of French and German writers and publishers. It was bought in 1996 by the Saudi prince Al-Waleed bin Talal and closed for two years of rebuilding.
It reopened on 18 December 1999 under the management of Four Seasons, and holds the Palace distinction.
