Starck's interiors
Philippe Starck redesigned every room between 2008 and 2010. The result is closer to a collector's apartment than to the gilding of the older palaces.

Matsuhisa Paris, the Japanese restaurant of the chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Il Carpaccio, Italian. La Cuisine, and Le Bar Long.

From Hemingway to Starck
The Royal Monceau opened in 1928, built in the Art Deco style by the architect Louis Duhayon for two hoteliers, Pierre Bermond and André Junot. Between the wars it drew Ernest Hemingway, Josephine Baker, Coco Chanel and Walt Disney.
It was requisitioned during the Second World War, and the generals Eisenhower and Montgomery stayed here. In 1946 Ho Chi Minh lived in the hotel for seven weeks, during the conference at Fontainebleau on the future of Vietnam.
The hotel closed in June 2008 and reopened on 18 October 2010. It belongs to Katara Hospitality, of Qatar, is managed by Raffles, and has held the Palace distinction since June 2013.
