What sets Hôtel Prince de Galles apart
Art Deco
The architect André Arfvidson built the hotel in the manner of the Paris exhibition of decorative arts of 1925, which gave Art Deco its name. The pale stone front, with its balconies, faces the avenue.
The restoration of 2013
The hotel closed for two years and reopened in 2013. The designers Pierre-Yves Rochon and Bruno Borrione gave it back the materials of the 1920s: Macassar ebony, black marble, and floors of marble inlaid with mosaic.
Restaurant and bar
Akira Back, a Japanese restaurant, and 19.20, the bar, which takes its name from the decade.
The avenue George V
The Champs-Élysées is at the top of the avenue and the Seine at the bottom. The Arc de Triomphe is a short walk away, and the fashion houses of the avenue Montaigne are around the corner.

The prince next door to the king
The Prince de Galles was built in 1928 on the site of the old quarries of Chaillot, which gave the stone for the foundations of the Arc de Triomphe. It was named for the Prince of Wales of the day, the son of George V and later, briefly, Edward VIII.
It opened in the same year as the George V, at the next address on the avenue, and the two have been neighbours ever since.
The hotel is part of the Luxury Collection of Marriott.
