A hotel above the stair since 1893
Albert Hassler bought the palazzo beside Trinità dei Monti in 1893 and gave the hotel his name. The old building was pulled down in 1939 and a new one built in its place. It reopened in the late 1940s and became the Roman address of heads of state, royalty and film stars.
The Wirth family, hoteliers from Switzerland, have been its owners since the 1920s. The hotel is still independent.
