De Kas

The tall glasshouse in Park Frankendael was built in 1927 to raise trees and plants for the city's parks. When it was to be pulled down, it was turned into a restaurant instead, and since 2001 its kitchen has cooked from what is grown in the greenhouse and in a field outside the city.

    A greenhouse of 1927

The greenhouse was put up in Park Frankendael in 1927 to grow trees, grasses and exotic plants for the city's other parks. By the end of the century it was no longer needed and was to be demolished.

Instead it was turned into a restaurant in 2000, and since 2001 the restaurant has cooked from its own garden.
