From guest house to hotel
For three centuries the building lodged the visitors of the palace opposite. In 1845 it was turned into a hotel, and because so many of its guests were British it was called the Hotel d'Angleterre.
It has been renovated floor by floor since 2008, with fewer and larger rooms, and is now part of the Starhotels Collezione.
