    A nineteenth-century hotel, brought back in 2000

The palazzo became a hotel in the nineteenth century, under the name Hotel de Russie et des Îles Britanniques, and was a favourite of Russian and other European travellers into the 1930s. After the Second World War it was offices and radio studios of the Italian state broadcaster until 1993.

Rocco Forte Hotels restored it and reopened it as a hotel on 15 April 2000, under its old name. The terraced garden was recovered during the works.
