Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky
Adolph Wilhelm Krasnapolsky came to Amsterdam as a tailor and spent his evenings in the coffee houses round the Dam. In 1866 he took over one of them, a run-down café on the Warmoesstraat, and over the following years built it into the grandest hotel on the square.
