Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht
Where Amsterdam used to borrow its books, there is now a hotel full of nods to the city, down to the Delft blue painted on its washbasins. The Dutch designer Marcel Wanders designed it from top to bottom.

On the Prinsengracht
The hotel faces the Prinsengracht at the southern edge of the Nine Streets, a few minutes from the Leidseplein.
The old library
The building was the public library of Amsterdam, built in the 1970s, before the hotel group Hyatt and the designer took it on.
Marcel Wanders
The rooms and public spaces are his design, with Delft blue washbasins and a tulip-shaped reading chair among their signature pieces.
The garden
Behind the building is a garden, which some of the rooms look on to, and a top-floor suite with a terrace over the canal.
