What Peter Luger Steak House is known for
The room
A long wooden bar, then dining rooms that have kept the look of a beer hall: exposed beams, oak wainscot, brass chandeliers and scrubbed tables without cloths.
The porterhouse
The house buys its beef on the bone and ages it in its own cellar. The steak comes sliced, on a tilted plate, with the butter pooling at one end.
Brooklyn
The restaurant is on the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg Bridge, one subway stop from Manhattan. It is the one table on this list outside the island.
