A hall ten metres high in limestone and onyx, on several levels, lit from a ceiling of backlit stone. It was the talk of the city when the hotel opened.

At 208 metres and fifty-two floors it is the second tallest hotel in New York. The upper rooms look north over Central Park.

Pei's only New York hotel
The hotel was planned in the 1980s as the Regent New York and designed by I. M. Pei with Frank Williams. It opened in 1993 under the Four Seasons name.
It closed in 2020 and stayed shut for four years. It reopened on 15 November 2024 with part of its rooms, and with all of them in 2025.
