What sets Villa La Massa apart
The river
The villa stands on the south bank of the Arno, a short way from the water, where the river makes two bends.

A medieval house
The building may go back to the end of the thirteenth century, when it belonged to the Giraldi. It was sold to the Rinuccini in 1780.

After the war the Grillini family restored the villa, raised it by a floor and opened it to guests.

A villa of seven centuries, a hotel for one lifetime
The Giraldi family held La Massa for some four hundred years, and thought enough of it to buy it back when it left the family as a dowry in the sixteenth century. Later owners were the Landini and the Rinuccini.
It became a hotel in 1948. The houses in the park have been restored one by one since.
