The building
Emery Roth, who built many of the towers that line the park, designed the Hotel St. Moritz here in 1930. Its café was said to be the first in the city with tables on the pavement.
Midway between the museums
MoMA is ten minutes' walk south. Carnegie Hall is two blocks away, and the Met a walk of half an hour through the park.

The St. Moritz, rebuilt
The Hotel St. Moritz opened in 1930 on the site of the old New York Athletic Club. Between 1999 and 2002 the building was gutted and remade: the lower floors became the Ritz-Carlton, and the top twelve were turned into a few very large apartments.
