What sets Rome Cavalieri apart
The park and the pools
The hotel stands in fifteen acres of private Mediterranean garden, with three outdoor pools, one of them for children, and an indoor pool in the spa.
The art collection
The public rooms hold a collection of paintings, furniture and tapestries that the hotel describes as the largest in any hotel in the world. Three large canvases by Giambattista Tiepolo hang in the lobby.
La Pergola
The restaurant on the top floor is the best known in Rome, with a terrace over the city. It needs booking well ahead.
The view
From the rooms on the city side, the dome of St Peter's is in the middle of the picture. The Vatican is about two kilometres down the hill.

Conrad Hilton's hotel on the hill
The hotel opened in 1963 as the Cavalieri Hilton, and Conrad Hilton came to open it himself. Its long modern block on the hilltop was an argument at the time and is a landmark now.
It later became the first hotel in Europe under the Waldorf Astoria name. A shuttle runs between the hotel and the centre.
