What sets Kimpton Fitzroy London apart
The Titanic
Doll designed the first-class dining room of the Titanic, and it is said to have been almost a copy of the restaurant he had built here. A bronze dragon on the main stair, called Lucky George, had a twin on the ship.
The front
The design follows the Château de Madrid, a lost palace near Paris. Four English queens stand in niches over the door: Elizabeth I, Mary II, Anne and Victoria.
The marble hall
The entrance hall and staircase are lined in coloured marbles, restored when the hotel was renamed in 2018.
Bloomsbury
The hotel faces the plane trees of Russell Square. The British Museum is five minutes' walk, and the British Library fifteen.
