The Shangri-La opened in 2014, the first hotel in London to be built high in a tower. Its lobby is on the thirty-fifth floor, and every room has a wall of glass from floor to ceiling.

The pool on the fifty-second floor
A swimming pool along the glass on level 52, the highest in western Europe when it opened, with a bar on the same floor.
The Shard
Renzo Piano's tower of glass was finished in 2012 and is 310 metres tall. The public viewing gallery is above the hotel, by a separate entrance.
London Bridge
Borough Market and Southwark Cathedral are at the foot of the tower. Tower Bridge is ten minutes east along the river.

The hotel fills eighteen floors in the middle of the tower, between the offices below and the flats above. It opened in May 2014.
Shangri-La is a Hong Kong group, and this was its first hotel in Britain.
