What sets Porta Rossa apart
The tower
The tower of the Monaldi family, called La Rognosa, is one of the tallest and best kept in Florence. A suite on three levels has been made in it, with a room at the top that looks over the roofs in every direction.
The hall
The reception is the old courtyard of the palace, roofed over, with carved capitals and stained glass of about 1900.
The Bartolini palace
The Bartolini family bought the houses on the site between about 1350 and 1516 and had them remodelled by the architect Baccio d'Agnolo.
Between the bridge and the square
The Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria are each about 350 metres away, and Via de' Tornabuoni is at the end of the street.

An inn in the 1300s, a hotel ever since
Among the old houses that the palace swallowed was an inn of Porta Rossa, recorded from the fourteenth century. In the first half of the nineteenth century the whole building was let as a hotel, and it has been one without a break.
It was run by NH Hotels from 2010 and is now part of the Colbert Collection.
