Scott's started as an oyster warehouse near the Haymarket, became a grand restaurant at the top of it in 1891, and moved to Mount Street in 1967. James Bond's creator ate here, and so did his hero.

    1. The crustacea bar

      An oval bar in the middle of the room with a mountain of ice, oysters, crab and langoustines on top of it. You can eat at its stools.

    2. Fleming's table

      Ian Fleming lunched here for years, and wrote that Bond did too. It is said to be where he first heard a martini ordered shaken and not stirred.

    3. Mount Street

      The terrace under the awning, on one of the handsomest streets in London, is the most watched in Mayfair.

    From the Haymarket to Mayfair

    The oyster rooms grew into Scott's Oyster and Supper Rooms in Coventry Street, a palace of marble and mirrors that was one of the sights of the West End for seventy years.

    The restaurant moved to Mayfair in 1967. In 1975 it was attacked twice by the IRA. It was rebuilt inside in 2006 by the group that owns The Ivy.
